Secondary deposits of ferric oxides and other decomposition products of ores can sometimes be found in decomposed ores. These secondary desposits are mostly inadequate ore deposits, but the particle size of these pigments is normally very suitable for the production of color. Pigments made of soft rocks are also called earth pigments.
